Tenuta di Cusona, a Surf Club Property
Set in the rolling hills of the Val d’Elsa just beyond the medieval towers of San Gimignano sits Tenuta di Cusona, one of the oldest continuously documented estates in Tuscany. The property, whose history is traced to 994 AD, spans roughly 530 hectares of vineyards, woodland, and truffle-rich farmland. At its center stands the historic Villa Cusona, arranged around a courtyard and anchored by deep underground cellars where wines continue to age, surrounded by formal Italian gardens, cypress-lined paths, and sweeping vineyards that frame distant views of San Gimignano’s skyline.
Long associated with the powerful Florentine dynasties of the influential Guicciardini and Strozzi families–rivals of the Medicis–the estate has evolved into a model agricultural holding, gaining international recognition for its wines, most notably Vernaccia di San Gimignano, one of Italy’s oldest and most celebrated varietals.
